Most mugs have a dirty secret. Cheap glazes hiding heavy metals. Sublimation coatings that chip and fade into your drink. CURVD® mugs are different — built from 100% chemical-free ceramic, third-party lab tested, and completely free of lead, cadmium, BPA, and harmful coatings. Every sip is exactly what it should be.
What "Chemical-Free" Actually Means at CURVD
The term "non-toxic mug" gets used loosely in the market. At CURVD, it has a specific, verifiable meaning. Our ceramic is single-wall, lead-free, and cadmium-free confirmed by a third-party testing lab, not just a manufacturer's claim. The clay and glaze formulation contains absolutely no heavy metals. This matters because lead and cadmium are sometimes used in colored ceramic glazes to achieve vibrant hues, and their presence is often invisible to the eye. Our custom print process adds another layer of safety. Instead of sublimation printing which bonds dye to a polymer coating that sits on top of the ceramic surface we use food-safe ceramic decals that are kiln-fired directly into the glaze at high temperatures. The print becomes part of the mug, not a layer on it. That means no fading, no peeling, and no risk of print chemicals leaching into your drink over time. The result is a mug that's fully microwave safe and dishwasher safe not with caveats, not "hand wash only," not "avoid the top rack." Every day. Every wash.

Why Non-Toxic Matters More Than You Think
You use your coffee mug every single day. Hot liquids accelerate the leaching of any chemicals present in a glaze or print coating meaning the quality and safety of your mug compounds over hundreds of uses, not just one.
Lead exposure from ceramic glazes is a documented concern, particularly in mugs from regions with less rigorous manufacturing standards. Cadmium, used in bright reds and oranges, is similarly toxic and classified as a human carcinogen. Both are tasteless and odorless you won't know they're there.
CURVD's 100% chemical-free ceramic isn't a marketing claim it's a manufacturing standard backed by independent testing. Your morning coffee deserves a mug you can trust completely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are CURVD mugs truly lead-free and cadmium-free?
Yes. Every CURVD ceramic mug is made from single-wall ceramic that has been independently tested by a third-party lab for lead and cadmium content. Both are confirmed absent in the clay body, glaze, and decal prints. This applies to all colors and both the 12 oz and 18 oz sizes.
What is the difference between sublimation printing and CURVD's kiln-fired decal printing?
Sublimation printing bonds dye to a polymer coating applied over the ceramic surface. That coating can chip, fade, and is generally not microwave safe. CURVD uses food-safe ceramic decals that are fired in a kiln at high temperature, fusing the print directly into the glaze. The result is a print that becomes part of the mug itself, microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and built to last for years without fading or peeling.
Are CURVD mugs BPA-free?
Yes. BPA is a chemical found in plastics and some coatings. CURVD mugs are 100% ceramic with no plastic linings, coatings, or additives. There is no plastic anywhere in the mug's construction.
Can I put CURVD mugs in the microwave and dishwasher?
Yes. CURVD ceramic mugs and kiln-fired decal prints are microwave safe and dishwasher safe for home dishwashers. We recommend avoiding industrial dishwashers used in commercial kitchens because high-concentration detergents can wear down ceramic glazes over time.
Are the custom-printed mugs also non-toxic and chemical-free?
Yes. Custom orders use the same kiln-fired decal process and the same chemical-free ceramic base as standard CURVD mugs. Logos or artwork are printed using CMYK food-safe decals and fired at high temperature into the glaze.
What sizes are available?
CURVD offers two sizes: the 12 oz mug and the 18 oz mug. The 12 oz mug is available in Blue Dawn, Cloud White, Green Meadow, and Touch of Pink. The 18 oz mug is available in Cloud White, Imperial Blue, and Onyx Black. All finishes use a matte glaze. Custom orders can be placed for any color starting at 24 units.
